Diversity at LBCC: A discussion to remember

Mark Weiss and Angie Klampe discuss how they have encountered stereotypes throughout their lives. On Wednesday, Nov. 10,  Steven Leider, director of OSU's  Gay Pride Center, was scheduled to meet at the Diversity Achievement Center to discuss and educate LBCC students about the gay community. Due to some miscommunication, Leider wasn't able make it to the event, forcing the panel to improvise. Weiss, a career advisor, and Klampe, of career services, both took advantage of the opportunity to share their insights with students. During their remarks they emphasized the importance of respect.

My Neighborhood assignment

The adventure began in downtown Corvallis and ended at the corner of 28th and Grant. The crows are welded pieces of scrap metal and are located on the riverfront where one can find many restaurants to choose from.  Matt is shown here replacing a broken piece of conduit for one of the eateries and enjoys working for the city. Jessica is known for her interior motives at the locally owned Schmidt's Garden Center. "I love what I do here and really enjoy the holidays." The chimney is made of storage units, a 2x4 and paint.

Environmental Portrait: Sabine Schulte

Sabine "Bina" Schulte  is a regular vendor at the Corvallis Farmers Market, which is known for its quality, local produce. She came to Corvallis in the spring of 1984. She attended Oregon State University and graduated with a bachelor's degree in animal science. After graduating from OSU, she looked for jobs and found that Sunbow Farm was hiring for harvesting. She fell in love with it and has been serving local, organic produce for the last 26 years. "I always go back to Dortmund when the beds go down in the fall." Schulte is now back in Germany for the fall harvest.
